How POS agents make money

A POS business earns from the charge you add on each withdrawal, transfer or deposit. Your POS provider also takes a fee on each transaction. Your profit is simply:

Profit = charges you collect − provider fees − running costs

Charges vary by location and time. Stands in busy markets, rural areas or late at night can often charge more; stands next to a bank or another agent usually charge less. That's why two POS agents on the same street can make very different money.

Why many POS agents don't know their real profit

A simple daily routine

  1. At closing, add up the charges you collected today.
  2. Check your provider's app for today's total fees.
  3. Write down today's costs.
  4. Record it — in a notebook or in SalesPal — so you can see which days and locations pay best.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a POS agent make per day in Nigeria?

It depends on how many transactions you do, what you charge and your provider's fees. For example, 40 withdrawals at ₦150 and 15 transfers at ₦100, minus provider fees and ₦2,000 of daily costs, leaves about ₦3,200 profit a day. Use the calculator with your own numbers.

How do I calculate my POS profit?

Add up the charges you collected, subtract the fees your POS provider took, then subtract your daily running costs such as data, transport and levies. What's left is your profit.

Is POS business profitable in Nigeria?

It can be, especially in busy locations with few nearby agents or banks. The profit depends on volume and on keeping costs and provider fees under control, so tracking it daily matters.

Can I track my POS business in SalesPal?

Yes. Record each day's charges as a sale and your provider fees and running costs as expenses. SalesPal then shows your profit by day, week and month.
